Degree of dissolution and dilution stability

Degree of dissolution and dilution stability testing (CIPAC MT 179) ascertains whether products formulated as granules, powders or tablets dissolve readily and are stable on dilution, without precipitation or flocculation. The product is dissolved at the highest intended concentration in a cylinder of standard water at 30°C. The cylinder is inverted 15 times and left to stand for 5 minutes; the solution is then poured through a 75µm sieve into another cylinder and the residue on the sieve quantified. The filtrate is left for another 18 hours before repeating the process to assess stability. Residue retained is reported as a percentage at each time point.
