Biodistribution of Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cells in Nonhuman Primate Lymphoid Tissue
SOT 2021 -- Plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) are one of the functional subsets of antigen-presenting bone marrow-derived leukocytes, mainly involved in the regulation of the antiviral and antitumor immune response, mucosal immunity and the development of central and peripheral tolerance. In recent years, the involvement of pDCs in chronic viral infections, autoimmune diseases and different type of cancers, has been widely investigated. Presence of pDCs in affected tissue has been described in association with many pathological circumstances, including granulomatous lymphadenitis, dermal lesions, nasal mucosa of allergic individuals and atherosclerotic inflammation. The goal of this study was to understand the biodistribution of pDCs in NHP lymphoid tissues in the context of preclinical toxicology studies.
