The Covance Genomics Laboratory (CGL) offers several technology solutions for miRNA analysis. For comprehensive miRNA profiling, we currently employ Agilent and Affymetrix GeneChip® miRNA microarray platforms. For a targeted approach, we use PCR-based miRCURY LNA™ (Exiqon) and TaqMan® (Life Technologies) individual assays and assay panels. Covance Genomics Laboratory has been selected as Exiqon’s preferred provider of RT-qPCR microRNA profiling services in the field of drug discovery and development.

New Developments in miRNA profiling
To keep up with the new trend in circulating nucleic acids profiling, CGL has developed and implemented an optimized protocol for the extraction of cell-free miRNAs from serum and plasma. We have tested three isolation methods to evaluate miRNA extraction efficiency and compatibility with platform-specific sample preparation. The MicroRNA profiling process at CGL
CGL has experience with wide range of sample types, including FFPE, serum/plasma, whole blood and fresh frozen tumor, among many others. Samples can be submitted as tissue, lysates, or miRNA-containing total RNA. Sample preparation and mass inputs for miRNA profiling are based on the platform requirements and the specific sample type.
