Extracting and Profiling RNA from FFPE
The Covance Genomics Laboratory (CGL) has the ability to obtain quality gene expression data from Formalin Fixed Paraffin Embedded (FFPE) samples. These samples are often human cancer tissues that are the only viable tissue source from a vast collection of clinical samples preserved for histological purposes. CGL also has robust capabilities to profile miRNA or DNA from FFPE samples, including mutational testing of BRAF, KRAS, and EGFR genes.
Extensive Experience
CGL boasts over 7 years of experience in whole genome profiling of FFPE samples from diverse sample types. Our purpose-built lab allows for processing large quantities—last year we processed over 3,000 FFPE samples.
Our Process
CGL works with collaborators to identify molecular signatures and gene expression patterns in a variety of FFPE tumor samples. Based on our extensive protocol development, FFPE samples are amplified in house and continue downstream for either gene expression or sequencing. These processes are tracked from start to finish in our LIMS system.
Custom FFPE Array
CGL has created a specially-designed Agilent FFPE array to improve data quality. It demonstrated significant sensitivity improvement over previous array patterns used for FFPE profiling.
