The Covance Genomics Laboratory (CGL) offers validated protocols for extracting total RNA from whole human blood. From either PAXgene™ tubes or Tempus™ Blood RNA Tubes, CGL extracts high quality RNA utilizing custom automated methods. Total RNA quality is evaluated for integrity using the Agilent Bioanalyzer and quantity using PicoGreen.
The CGL Difference
CGL has developed a high throughput version of the NuGEN Ovation WB protocol for the profiling of whole blood. This protocol has been shown to significantly mitigate the effect of globin cross-hybridization and provide high quality expression profiling data. One amplification is sufficient for one Affymetrix GeneChip hybridization. The NuGEN Ovation protocol generates high-quality cDNA hybridization target that have very low cross-hybridization on microarrays.
