| The Covance Clinical Research Unit in Daytona Beach moved to a new facility in September 2006. The new facility houses 38 beds, including a 6-patient monitoring ward, ideal for complicated safety trials. Originally a late phase research center founded on rheumatology studies, this site opened their Phase I unit in 1993 to conduct rheumatoid arthritis trials. Covance in Daytona Beach has expanded their capabilities over the years and conducts both late phase and early phase trials in women's health, obesity, osteoarthritis, diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. The Daytona Beach staff has extensive experience with bioequivalence, bioavailability, pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, definitive QTc, drug-drug interaction, proof-of-concept, rising dose, and Phase IIa patient studies. In addition to healthy normal populations, they are successful recruiting special patient populations including: healthy elderly, obese subjects, postmenopausal women, and osteoarthritis patients. |
