Princeton, New Jersey, December 17, 2002 Covance Inc. (NYSE: CVD) is
pleased to announce that Dr. Agnes Denes has joined the company as Staff
Scientist and Study Director for Food and Product Packaging Testing Services
at Covance. In this position, Dr. Denes will assume responsibility for both
developing and conducting analyses, maintaining study documents and directly
supporting clients. She comes to Covance with a strong academic history in
cross-disciplinary research involving chemistry and bacteriology. Covance is
a leader in offering Analytical Testing Services to the food, dietary
supplement and biotechnology industries.
Dr. Denes brings six years of experience in both chemistry and analytical
chemistry with a broad expertise in analytical techniques. Most recently,
Dr. Denes was a Research Associate with the Food Research Institute and
Department of Food Microbiology and Toxicology at the University of
Wisconsin Madison where she oversaw various food-safety related studies.
During that time she published multiple papers and presented posters at
various conferences on the topic of surface modification of polymers for
reducing bacterial biofilm deposition. She was also awarded the Gertrude
Anthony Research Scholarship for research work in the area of cold-plasma
induced surface modifications of synthetic polymers.
Dr. Denes received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Chemistry from
the A.I. Cuza University in Iasi, Romania, a Masters of Science in Textile
Chemistry, and a Doctoral degree in Wood Chemistry from the University of
Wisconsin Madison.
