Princeton, New Jersey, August 8, 2001 Covance Inc. (NYSE: CVD) today announced that it will expand its food and nutraceutical laboratories as part an overall expansion project of its operations in Madison, Wisconsin, which is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2002. This move will provide Covance with the facilities necessary to support existing products and an anticipated stream of new products entering the conventional food and nutraceutical markets. As a leader in food safety and nutritional testing, Covance's scientists help food manufacturers navigate the path from development to product release by providing accurate scientific data and dependable regulatory expertise. From nutritional analysis and labeling to stability testing and clinical studies of dietary supplements, Covance adapts to clients' needs by offering complete product evaluation or single nutrient assays.

Specifically, Covance was awarded for Check Sample Series VMP (analysis of Vitamins, Minerals, and Proximates), Series SA (Sugars by HPLC), and Series DF (Dietary Fiber). These prestigious awards are based on an internationally recognized scale of accuracy and precision among all AACC check sample subscribers for the year 2000.
