PRINCETON, N.J., 7 August 2000 — Covance Inc. (NYSE:CVD) announced today that its Central Laboratory Services unit based in Indianapolis, Indiana has been recognized for outstanding customer service by Eli Lilly and Company. Covance Central Laboratory Services received Lilly's 2000 Supplier Award, which acknowledges and encourages the contributions of key suppliers towards Lilly's success.
Covance is one of a select group of suppliers to Lilly that has demonstrated its commitment to helping the company meet corporate objectives. Covance was judged by Lilly personnel on such criteria as impact on quality, speed, service, and total cost reduction.
According to Lilly, "In recognizing those who bring the best in innovation and demand realization, we demonstrate in a concrete way, the company's belief that our suppliers can give us a strategic competitive advantage."
F. John Mills, PhD, MD, Covance Senior Vice President and President, Clinical Support Services, accepted the award on behalf of Covance at a ceremony held at Lilly headquarters. Commenting on this award Dr. Mills said "Covance is very pleased to receive such high level recognition from one the world's most prominent pharmaceutical companies. We are proud of the important work that we do and proud that our pharmaceutical customers consider us 'partners' in their search for cures."
