Residue Chemistry
Covance offers an extensive analytical service for clients in the crop science industries. As a leader in Residue Chemistry, Covance is well-equipped to undertake analytical method development and residue analysis on a wide range of matrices for crop protection products.

Our purpose-built facility in Harrogate, UK, is complemented by a wealth of experienced scientific staff. This provides the necessary infrastructure and technical expertise to ensure the complete co-ordination and operation of GLP analytical programs for all types of studies to meet EU and EPA regulatory requirements. Protocols can be designed to ensure global acceptability.

Close integration with other departments such as Environmental Fate and Field Trials allows Residue Chemistry to offer the necessary support where an analytical service is required. Alternatively, analytical support can be provided for studies conducted outside Covance.

Services offered include:

Method Validation
A critical part of any program is the successful transfer or development and validation of analytical methods. Should method development be required, this is referred to method specialists for rapid solutions.

Strategic investment in state-of-the-art equipment enables rapid and cost-effective development and validation of analytical methods using advanced instrumentation including GC/MS, LC/MS and LC/MS/MS. Methods are validated according to current regulatory guidelines whether for pre- or post-registration purposes. Residue Chemistry can provide guidance on Independent Laboratory Validations (ILV) requirements and design protocols to ensure regulatory acceptability.

Storage Stability
Residue Chemistry has extensive experience with these types of studies. Confirmation of residue stability may be required after extended storage and early initiation can safeguard reporting dates and ensure there are no delays in data submission.

Analysis
Residue Chemistry is able to provide the analytical phase for the following study types:

  • Crop Residue
  • Soil Accumulation
  • Soil Dissipation
  • Soil Leaching
  • Surface Water
  • Operator exposure
  • Livestock feeding studies.
