Residues |
 |
Although agricultural and industrial practices have drastically changed in recent decades, the threat of harmful residues in foods remains a major concern in the minds of consumers. Covance has staff in both the U.S. and Europe whose expertise in agrochemical and residue analysis spans decades. We have validated methods for many classes of compounds and are actively involved in initiatives for worldwide harmonization of residue assays. Utilizing modern analytical technology, our chemistry expertise and knowledge of global regulations, we have developed low-cost and high-throughput pesticide screens that can screen for hundreds of pesticides for less than $1 per compound. If a pesticide is detected, confirmatory analysis using additional chromatographic or mass spectrometry techniques can be done to provide more comprehensive data. For analysis of heavy metals, Covance utilizes the latest in inductively coupled atomic emission spectrometry to screen for the presence of metals at minute levels. In addition, Covance has traditionally been quick to respond to new high profile concerns such as the presence of acrylamide. Covance was an early leader in validation of a dependable and efficient acrylamide method and has analyzed thousands of samples from a variety of matrices.
