In Vivo (Ascites) Production |

Ascites is often an ideal medium for the reliable in vivo production of monoclonal antibodies. You can take advantage of Covance's full range of small and large scale antibody production services in diverse mouse and rat strains. Live or frozen cells may be sent to Covance for ascites production.
Production schedules can be customized to meet client needs. Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) rodents are obtained by Covance from approved vendors and monitored with a bimonthly serological health survey for the duration of the project. Typically, one million cells are injected into each rodent, which can be adjusted as needed. Following administration of cells, rodents are monitored daily. As ascites fluid is produced, it is harvested, processed to remove fibrin clots and cellular debris, packaged, labeled and delivered on dry ice. Ascites production typically takes 6-8 weeks. Purification of monoclonal antibodies from ascites is available.
